SaySo — Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This policy explains what SaySo collects when you use sayso.so, how we use and share it, and your choices. It applies to participants and Hosts.

2. Information we collect

Account information. You sign in through our authentication service, which provides us your email address, your name or username, and a profile image if you have one. (If social sign-in is enabled, the provider you choose shares basic profile details with us.)
Profile and gameplay information. Your display name and avatar, the Sessions you join or host, the questions you create or resolve, the points you commit, your predictions, and your leaderboard results.
Usage and device analytics. We record product events (for example: opening the app, viewing a page, joining a Session, placing a prediction, resolving a market) along with details such as a browser session identifier, timestamps, device type, app version, the Session involved, and marketing-attribution parameters (UTM source/medium/campaign/content) when you arrive from a tagged link.
Cookies and local storage. Used for sign-in/session management, to remember your last visit and in-progress actions (such as a pending Session join code), and for the analytics above. See Section 6.
Prize information. If you win a prize, we collect what's needed to deliver it (for example, your NBA Top Shot username) and share it with the prize provider. See Section 4.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information; please don't submit it.

3. How we use information

To operate the Service (Sessions, markets, leaderboards, accounts); to improve and secure it (analytics, debugging, cheat and abuse prevention); to communicate with you (Section 5); to deliver prizes and run promotions; and to comply with legal obligations.

4. How we share information

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with:

Service providers (processors) who run the Service for us — our authentication service, our in-app analytics service, and our hosting and database providers — who may process data only on our instructions.
Prize providers and sponsors, limited to what's needed to deliver a prize you've won (e.g., your prize-platform username).
Platforms you connect to, only as you direct.
Legal and safety: to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect rights and safety.
Business transfers: in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to this policy.

5. Communications

We may send you: service messages (for example, prize fulfillment, account notices, and Session notifications); and occasional messages asking for feedback or about new features and sponsored Sessions. You can opt out of non-essential messages at any time; we'll still send necessary service messages.

6. Cookies and tracking

We use essential cookies and local storage required for sign-in and core functionality, and first-party analytics as described in Section 2. We do not use third-party advertising cookies on the site. Where required, we'll provide cookie controls.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including GDPR/UK GDPR and CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict your information, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these, or to request account and data deletion, contact hello@sayso.so. We won't discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

8. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. Users between 13 and 18 should have parental or guardian supervision. If we learn we've collected information from a child under 13, we'll delete it. Report concerns to hello@sayso.so.

9. Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the Service and to meet legal obligations, after which we delete or de-identify it.

10. International transfers

We process and store information in Canada and the United States. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. For material changes, we'll provide additional notice where appropriate.
